Foreword
This blog post chronicles my travels in Guatemala with ptr and Steven. We arrived at La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala City on May 28, 2026, and caught our return flight to Chicago on the morning of June 2.
Our journey through Guatemala felt incredibly diverse yet profoundly unified. The locals around Lake Atitlán and its neighboring towns were exceptionally welcoming; beneath the captivating peace and tranquil rhythm of life that makes it so hard to leave, one can deeply feel the enduring influence of the ancient Maya civilization. The town of Antigua, on the other hand, perfectly preserves its Spanish colonial architecture while seamlessly blending in a cosmopolitan vibe due to its outstanding appeal to global travelers. Standing beside it are three majestic volcanoes: Volcán Acatenango, Volcán de Fuego, and Volcán de Agua. From high above, they overlook Antigua and the distant Guatemala City, as if silently guarding this magical land.
Ultimately, this is a country where humanity and nature are engaged in an eternal, breathtaking dialogue.
